Easter Egg Hunt April 18, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kim Morrison @ 10:06 pm

On Good Friday, our little playgroup gets together (almost) every year for an Easter Egg Hunt. This time it was in our backyard. We had 19 kids and 6 moms! I always think I am going to have these amazing pictures of my kids, all dressed up, finding brightly colored eggs. Never happens. All dressed up rarely happens, and even then they are way too busy looking for eggs to stop and smile for the camera!
We always enjoy our time together, especially since we all bring delicious food and have a luncheon!

snow in April? April 18, 2007

I think the rest of the country has had crazy weather lately, too, but our snow in mid-April just seemed wierd! I have a little pic of Grace enjoying the huge flakes falling from the sky, but not really sticking to the ground.

Smoothie April 18, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kim Morrison @ 7:22 pm

It has been a while. I had to make a quick family trip, but we were able to get some things taken care of.

Since my comments about eating right seemed to strike a cord, I want to share my newest yummy taste sensation. I got this recipe from Southern Living and adapted it a little, so I can’t take all of the credit. I don’t usually need a recipe for a smoothie. I just throw some fruit in the blender. But, this is very yummy!

2 cups frozen blueberries
1 cup vanilla yogurt (I use Stoneyfield Farms)
1 1/2 cups milk

Blend until smooth. I should warn you that this makes a lot. It is not very sweet, but it is nice and your feel like you are getting skinnier as you sip on it, because it is not a donut!

Try it and let me know if you like it!

Happy snacking,
Kim

The New Covenant April 7, 2007

For this is the Covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds,
and I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be my people.
And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen,
and everyone his brother, saying ‘Know the Lord,’
For all will know Me,
From the least to the greatest of them.
“For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
And I will remember their sins no more.”

Hebrews 8:10-12; also from Jeremiah 31.

This Easter season is such a beautiful time to remember that we are part of the New Covenant by God’s grace through Christ. I can’t read it enough: “I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Wow! I did nothing to deserve it, and still, He will be my God. He writes His laws on my heart, puts them in my mind, and is merciful to my iniquities.

Overwhelming.

Bask in His goodness this season,
Kim

Luke embodies the perfect notion of a big brother. Helpful, considerate, kind. He is very studious, a bookworm, and is currently learning to ride his bike. He loves Star Wars, Legos, and, of course, Star Wars Legos! He is in the second grade, at Live Oak Classical School. When Luke gets to pick out things at the Share Store at AWANAs, he always brings something for everybody in the family. I love that about him!

His favorite books are:
Magic Tree House Series, by Mary Pope Osborne
The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis,
The Mouse and the Motorcycle, by Beverly Cleary
any book about sharks

Little Micah April 4, 2007

My baby is not so little anymore! He is 2 1/2, and thinks he is 10, like most youngest sibblings. I often use the word “delicious” to describe him.

Seriously, he throws like a pro! Most people are amazed when they see him. Whether it is a football, baseball, or phone, he can toss it across the room! He bats pretty well, too. As far as catching, not so much. He is all about sports.

He is saying his words with clarity, but often is illogical in his arguments. And he argues a lot! Oh, to train up a child….

His favorite books are:
Tales from Littletown, an Usborne book
Somebody Bogger Than I, by Leroy Blankenship
The Big Red Barn, by Margret Wise Brown
Mouse Paint, by Ellen Stoll Walsh

Love that boy!

Back in the saddle again April 4, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kim Morrison @ 3:34 pm

So, I keep having these headaches, and I really notice them when I read print, look at the computer, and scrapbook. I stayed away from reading as much as I could, and even blogging! I went to the opthamolgist last week, and he said my eyesight is very good (I could be an astronaut) and it would be dishonest to sell me glasses. So, I guess my headaches are hormone related (sorry, any guys who might be reading). They have eased up this week, and so, here I am.
I am on natural homone remedy for those of you who are concerned. It is helping. I have met a wonderful practitioner in Plano who helps many medical conditions in a natural way.

I think God is using these headaches to teach me to clean up my diet. I know I am eating poorly, and satisfying my own lusts of the flesh. I stuggle in this area! Food is probably a little too important to me.

After my short trip to North Africa last December, I have been asking God to make my heart completly His. A missionary explained the analogy of all of us drawing a line of how far we are willing to go to serve God. I am asking God to erase my lines. I have quite a few, and some are big, high lines. Giving up what I eat is a line. But, I don’t think I should eat junk food all day and then ask God to give me energy and make me into the mother He has called me to be. Thus, the stuggle.
I could really use a cookie right now.
